John-Robert
With a voice that blends Appalachian roots and modern pop instinct, John-Robert is a rising singer-songwriter whose story is as unlikely as it is compelling.
Raised in Edinburg, Virginia, a town of just over a thousand people, John-Robert began writing and producing his own music as a kid, earning a reputation as a musical prodigy that led to an appearance on Ellen at just 13 years old. At 19, he turned down a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, left home, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue music full-time.
He was signed to Nice Life/Warner Records by Grammy-nominated producer Ricky Reed, known for his work with Leon Bridges and Lizzo, and released a run of early singles and EPs that earned him co-signs from artists like Alessia Cara and Camila Cabello. His 2023 song “Come Pick Me Up,” captured in a stripped-down fireside performance, broke through in a major way, blending traditional folk and Appalachian country into something distinctly his own.
John-Robert spent 2023 and 2024 touring extensively across the US and abroad, sharing stages with Madi Diaz, Rayland Baxter, Leon Bridges, and Liam Gallagher.
His recent EP, Cross Stitch, released November 14, 2025, wove together generations of memories inspired by his family back in Virginia, and was followed by the single “Anna” in February 2026. He’s since announced a new EP, Where Do You Wanna Go?, continuing to lean into change while staying rooted in the storytelling that’s always defined him.
